L!

The Club is buttoned up for another year! Still a little to do next week, but lots of hard work made for a very successful work party today! Special thanks to the Sharon High Sailing Team who worked extremely hard on moorings, docks and other cleanup!

2023 MYC 74th Annual Small Boat Regatta 9/8-9/10/2023

MYC hosted our 74th Annual Regatta for Small Boats on 9/8-9/10/2023. The Sunfish, Lasers and RS Aeros registered 56 boats, with a total of 52 - 36 Sunfish, 10 Lasers and 6 RS Aeros on the line at the starts. After Breakfast on Saturday we had pretty light winds and the Race Committee got the boats out for 1 race for all and 2 races for the Aeros before lunch.  After lunch, the wind just did not cooperate, which may have been a blessing - everyone was in before the thuderstorm deluge on Saturday afternoon that brought about 3" or rain per hour! Before dinner, we put on a spectacular cocktail party and I still wonder how anyone had any room for dinner. But the dinner was served, and was it ever good - lobster, steak tips, barbecue chicken, roast chicken, pasta primavera, green beans, potato rice pilaf, salad and garden salad, with an ice cream sundae bar to top it all off. No one went home hungry!

Sunday after breakfast was a little better and everyone ended up with 5 races overall before the weather threatened to hit again. It was a good call by the RC to get everyone in - most people were packed up and ready to go before the storm hit. After lunch were the awards and eveyone was on their way. A special award was given to Jack Cody, our youngest skipper, sailing a Laser. Sunfish awards went to (1) Stuart Draheim, (2) John Eckart, (3) Ken Charles (4) Alan Beckwith and (5) Scott Greenbaum. Laser awards went to (1) Sterling Worrell, (2) Judith Krimski, (3) Aaron Mac Queen, (4) Aleksei Semeniuk and (5) Richard Kelly. RS Aeros awards went to (1) Philip Myerson, (2) Trevor DiMarco, (3) Eric Aker, (4) Sally Sharo and (5) Patrick Chokron.

Thanks to PRO Greg Kampf and the Race Committee, Registrars/Scorers Annie Pennington and Connie Eckart, Cocktail Party Chair Donna Rousseau, meal helpers Kate Sharp, Shelly Landry, Jeff Sprung, Martha Hoffman, Dave and Donna Rousseau, and for all around help to Harvey and Margy Davidson. Next year is our 75th and we hope it is just as much fun!

There were 9 boats attending the Moonlight Sail on 9/2/2023.  One boat went out with lights on! Dan Abram & Diane McElligott took out a rescue boat, which happily was not needed. After sailing, some landlubbers joined in the festivities onshore. It was a perfect night!
